EP Review- Electric Revolution: Electric Revolution

Electric Revolution is the self titled EP by the Wisconsin Hard Rock band Electric Revolution and was released in February 2014. Now this review is something interesting because one of the band members (you know who you are!) actually asked me to review this piece and i couldn't turn it down because 1. im a nice guy and 2. these guys rock. However, lets see what really sparks on this EP.

Track Rundown

1.Helpless- The Diamond Head song? Haha no but what a great opener! The slide guitar is really groovy and i love the distortion its that perfect 70s tone with the wah pedal added for effect. The thing i really like about power trios is how full they can keep their sound and the bass here does a wonderful job and is very audible but not too much(just how i like it). The vocals remind me of Biff Byford from Saxon a little bit even a bit of Dio as well i really like it.

2.The Love I Have- The intro i really like here and not to mention wow the bluesy rockabilly riffing is pretty awesome and i even hear a bit of Robert Plant in the vocals. The drums are really infectious here as well. very Zeppelin inspired track.

3.A slower track that reminds me of something Rainbow might have released and the vocals are really strong here too. Pretty good track nothing mind blowing but its still got that groove that these guys seem to have down to a science. The solo kicks alot of ass though.

4.I'm Just Like You- Now i hear some UFO influences these guy tap into so many different bands which is really cool. The chorus sounds pretty infectious here as well.

5.Brand New Day- It might just be me but i hear some southern rock in this track i like it its oozing 70s rock n roll.

6.Gonna Make You Sweat- I like the riffing here alot and the drums are very jazzy feeling as well. I keep going back to a Saxon like voice and now i get a very Van Halen feeling here as well a pretty good closer to a good EP.

Overall, i give this ep an 8 out of 10. I find a piece like this one unique by todays standards because noone plays like this anymore and im glad to see a band like Electric Revolution pumping out some 70s blues rock.
